New Members & Special Guests

On the occasion of our July meeting, the CGC welcomed new members Josefina Batista Herrada and Maria Espino.  We look forward to their participation and contribution, which we are confident will help our Club reach its many objectives.  Although not present at that session, we are also pleased to welcome as officer of the CGC Manuel Rivero, Certified Public Accountant, who has generously offered his services to our Club in that capacity.

We also counted among us Dr. Enrique Hurtado de Mendoza, noted genealogist, as well as CUBA-L friends Humberto Estrada, of Dallas, Texas, Hilda Pomares of Miami, Annette Piedra Baquedano's mother, Pepita Piedra, and Damarys Vazquez

We extend cordial invitations to each to visit again.

Dr. Enrique Hurtado de Mendoza

Dr. Enrique Hurtado de Mendoza spoke at length, and brilliantly, on Cuban genealogy in general, and offered to return in September to give the results of his investigations of the family trees on which some members requested  assistance.

Recognition

Vivian Narvaez, on behalf of the CGC of Miami, Florida, awarded a Certificate of Merit to Jose Andre Morales for his creation and administration of the Club website.  The CGC website, as most members know, has already drawn interest on the part of the public and has played a prominent role in attracting new members.  Jose's dedication to our Club has exceeded our most extravangant expectations, and officers and members alike are deeply grateful.

The second recipient of the CGC Certificate of Merit was Dr. Enrique Hurtado de Mendoza, whose life has been dedicated to enriching Cuban genealogical research.  The CGC is privileged to count Dr. Hurtado de Mendoza as a friend.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Vivian Narvaez

President
